Suspect detained following deadly brawl at Lake Berryessa 00:21 NAPA COUNTY – A suspect is detained in the hospital after a man died and several people were injured in a fight at Lake Berryessa on Saturday, authorities say.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office says they started getting reports about a big fight at the Oak Shores Day Use Area around 5:30 p.m.
At the scene, deputies found multiple people injured, including a man who had been shot. They described the scene as “large” and “chaotic.”
Deputies say that the man shot, later identified as 39-year-old Andres Fabian Sandoval Garcia of Vallejo, died at the scene despite deputies administering CPR.
Three other people were injured after they were either stabbed or punched, authorities said. Two of the three had to be airlifted to hospitals in the area, but the Bay City News Servicereported one person has since been released.

During the investigation, detectives learned during the fight between the two groups, a suspect went to his vehicle and grabbed a gun before deputies said he shot and killed Garcia.

KPIX The suspect took off from the scene after the shooting but was detained just north of the lake. Deputies said the suspect was the other person airlifted to the hospital.
When he is released from the hospital and booked into jail, the sheriff’s office said it would release his identification. The extent of his injuries was not released.

The Oak Shores Day Use Area is towards the middle western shore of Lake Berryessa. It’s just over 60 miles west of Sacramento and about 70 miles north of San Francisco.
The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force, which includes all Napa County law enforcement agencies, responded to the scene. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter assisted with the response as well.
