In an exclusive video, we see Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that the long-standing friendship between China and Russia will remain unchanged, as will their commitment to global responsibilities.
On the afternoon of October 22, local time, President Xi convened with President Putin at the Kremlin in Kazan, Russia.
President Xi expressed his pleasure in accepting President Putin’s invitation, stating, “It is a great honor to be in the ancient city of Kazan. Approximately 400 years ago, the ‘Tea Road’ linking our two nations passed through Kazan, bringing tea from China’s Wuyi Mountains to Russian households.”
Reflecting on their journey, President Xi noted that despite challenges, China-Russia relations have advanced significantly, yielding numerous groundbreaking achievements. He emphasized their shared understanding of “non-alignment, non-confrontation, and not targeting third parties” as a correct approach for neighboring major powers. In light of the unprecedented changes the world is currently facing, he expressed unwavering confidence that the deep-seated friendship and the commitment to global well-being between the two nations will endure.
For his part, President Putin welcomed Xi warmly, saying, “Dear Mr. President, dear friend, we sincerely welcome you to the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan. Over the past 75 years, Russia and China have developed into comprehensive strategic partners in the new era, with our relationship maintaining a high level of development and setting a model for a new type of great power relations. We appreciate the long-standing high-level cooperation between our countries within the BRICS framework, and I am pleased to have this opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and international issues with you ahead of the summit.”
This dialogue highlights the enduring bond between the two nations and their commitment to navigating the complexities of the current global landscape.
