Sichuan men’s basketball team defeated Zhejiang and won its first win of the season

On October 24, the CBA 2024-2025 regular season continued with an exciting matchup as the Sichuan Blue Whales, struggling with a losing streak, hosted the Zhejiang Lions. After a hard-fought four quarters, Sichuan triumphed with a 122-107 victory, ending their five-game skid and claiming their first win of the season.

Right from the tip-off, the Sichuan team launched a strong offensive, combining both inside and outside scoring to quickly take the lead. However, Zhejiang remained undeterred, tightening their defense and staying close on the scoreboard. Key player Li Zhenian for Sichuan hit multiple three-pointers in crucial moments, scoring 12 points in the first quarter and establishing a double-digit lead for his team.

In the second quarter, while Zhejiang’s foreign player, York, contributed with three consecutive three-pointers, the rest of the team struggled offensively. Sichuan seized the opportunity, capitalizing on several turnovers from Zhejiang, and continued to pour on the points led by foreign player Edmond.

As the second half began, Zhejiang found their rhythm, with player Liu Zeyi making several effective drives and cutting the deficit down to single digits. However, Sichuan’s foreign player Hunter stepped up in the final quarter, sinking crucial three-pointers and aggressively attacking the basket to help extend their lead.

Ultimately, Sichuan secured a convincing 122-107 victory over Zhejiang, marking their first win of the season.

Post-game, Sichuan’s head coach, Han Shuo, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly their efficient and precise offensive execution, which included hitting 15 of 31 three-point attempts and making all 19 free throws. “The players executed the strategies laid out by the coaching staff exceptionally well. We outperformed the opponent in rebounds, assists, and steals. They truly earned this victory,” he remarked while thanking each player for their efforts and emphasizing the importance of this win for the team.
