On October 19, reporters from Tianjin reported that during the recent opening of the 2024 conference and forum of the Belt and Road International Alliance of Architectural Universities at Tianjin Chengjian University, seven new members joined the alliance. This expansion brings the total membership to 91 institutions across 30 countries worldwide, further broadening the scope of collaboration.

The newly added members include Addis Ababa University of Technology in Ethiopia, Inner Mongolia Vocational College of Engineering, Kazakh National University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Northeast University, Samarkand State Architectural and Civil Engineering University in Uzbekistan, Glodon Company Limited, and China Communications First Harbor Engineering Company Ltd.

The forum, jointly organized by the alliance’s chair institutions, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Tianjin Chengjian University, brought together representatives from over 40 universities and companies across 12 countries. With more than 100 participants, including experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs, discussions focused on the theme “Building a Prosperous Road Together” to collaboratively explore the future development blueprint of the Belt and Road alliance. The aim is to expand high-quality, distinctive development platforms and establish a comprehensive, international talent training system to create new heights in quality development.

Shi Qingwei, the Party Secretary of Tianjin Chengjian University, stated that 2024 marks the seventh anniversary of the alliance’s establishment. Over the past seven years, the alliance has become a vital platform for promoting innovative talent cultivation in the architecture and engineering fields, as well as facilitating cultural and technological exchanges. “In the future, Tianjin Chengjian University will adopt a more open approach to engage in diverse interactions and practical collaborations with alliance members, jointly advancing educational openness, expanding international academic exchanges, and contributing to global educational governance,” he added.

Looking ahead, the 2025 alliance meeting is scheduled to take place at the Kazakh National University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
