2024 China International Consumer Electronics Expo kicks off in Qingdao, Shandong

On October 18, 2024, the China International Consumer Electronics Expo kicked off at the Qingdao National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Shandong Province. With the theme “Green Navigation, Digital Chain Future,” the expo has brought together over 300 consumer electronics companies from countries and regions including China, the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, and Malaysia. Covering an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, the event showcases the latest technologies, products, and trends in the consumer electronics sector.

In his opening remarks, Guo Kuilong, Secretary-General of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, highlighted the steady growth in export values and rates for key industries in China, such as integrated circuits and home appliances. “China is a significant player in the global consumer electronics industry as a manufacturer, exporter, and consumer. The electronics and home appliances sector, one of the earliest to embrace market reforms and internationalization, has nurtured a host of internationally competitive leading firms and ‘hidden champion’ companies over the years. Qingdao, as a major hub for China’s electronics and home appliance industry, boasts a rich industrial heritage and a concentration of numerous companies, forming a complete industrial chain that provides fertile ground for the growth of our electronics sector,” he stated.

This year’s expo features five themed exhibition areas: Smart Home, New Displays, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Life, and Digital Consumption. It covers a broad range of topics, from consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, and new display technologies to virtual reality, smart manufacturing, and intelligent transportation. Major global players such as Hisense, Huawei, Tesla, BOE, Sony, Panasonic, and Brother are showcasing their cutting-edge technologies and products.

Organized by the Shandong Provincial Government and co-hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the China Electronics Society, and the Qingdao Municipal Government, this expo marks the 20th edition since its inception in 2001. The event has attracted relevant trade associations and buyers from countries like the UK, Russia, and Malaysia, facilitating economic exchanges between domestic and international enterprises, expanding overseas markets, and promoting information sharing, resource integration, and complementary advantages.
