Taiwanese brands achieve greater glory again with the 3rd Overseas Taiwanese Business Excellence Awards promoting global marketing strategies

In a bid to highlight Taiwan’s unique strengths and foster the growth of overseas Taiwanese brands, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) initiated the “Overseas Taiwanese Business Product Selection and Guidance Program” back in 2021. Now in its third year, the program culminated in a vibrant awards ceremony and networking dinner on September 24 at the Taipei Garden Hotel, attended by Taiwanese business leaders and dignitaries from across the globe. The event was also livestreamed, generating significant interest and engagement from the overseas Taiwanese community.

During the ceremony, OCAC Chairperson Hsu Chia-ching personally presented the awards, which included video showcases of the winning companies. These presentations highlighted the innovative achievements and contributions of Taiwan-based enterprises in the international marketplace.

This year’s selection process kicked off with initial evaluations conducted overseas, followed by final assessments in Taiwan, yielding five prestigious “Gold Awards” and seven “Silver Awards” for outstanding products. The awards underscore the remarkable capabilities of Taiwanese businesses in research, development, innovation, and their competitive edge in global markets.

The gold medal recipients this year came from Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States, featuring innovations in areas such as AI technology, medical equipment, and sustainability initiatives. Noteworthy winners included Thailand’s Yuantuo International Co., recognized for their “AI Automatic License Plate Recognition Software,” Vietnam’s Shinshun Company with their “W3-II Long (Short) Rehabilitation Shoes,” and Thailand’s Talihwa Jade Co.’s “AI Smart Cabinet System.” American entries comprised a multifaceted beverage vending machine by Youqi Co. and the AX48 wall-mounted AC charging pile from Chizar Technology Co.

The silver awardees also represented a diverse array of sectors, including technology, environmental sustainability, and recreational products. Thailand’s Zhongrong Precision Casting Co. was acknowledged for their “Taiwan Blue Magpie Low Earth Orbit Satellite Radar Bracket Kit,” while American firms Rytr Technology and others garnered silver for their “NURO-822E Edge Computing AI Workstation” and “PNSR-5000 Network Communication Information Security Platform.” Additional notable U.S. products included the Mobo three-wheeled scooter from ASA Products Inc. based in Los Angeles and eco-friendly dental floss from BRIGHTWORKS PRODUCTS INC. in Chicago.

Chairperson Hsu remarked on the increasing enthusiasm among overseas Taiwanese businesses, noting that this year’s program attracted a broader range of products, expanding from three categories last year to eleven this year. This shift signals a growing emphasis on digital applications, AI technology, and international sustainable development. She reiterated OCAC’s dedication to empowering Taiwanese companies to innovate and upgrade their operations, encouraging them to build their own brands rather than relying mainly on OEM production—which often yields lower profit margins.

In addition to recognizing outstanding businesses, the event also aims to provide substantial support and resources. Award winners receive trophies and certificates along with access to valuable services like specialized credit loan guarantees, international accounting consultations, brand development courses through trade associations, and promotional assistance from the Institute for Business Development. These resources are designed to boost competitiveness and help Taiwanese brands gain a foothold in the global marketplace.

The “Overseas Taiwanese Business Product Selection and Guidance Program” not only celebrated remarkable advancements in research and innovation but also shared inspiring narratives of brand development. The OCAC has expressed its commitment to expanding the program’s offerings, looking to encourage more Taiwanese brands to engage and fostering an environment of mutual learning and inspiration. Together with government support, Taiwanese businesses aspire to showcase the quality of “Made by Taiwan” products on the world stage, contributing to a flourishing Taiwanese economy.
