In a startling incident early on October 4, a bakery in Carson, California, experienced severe vandalism, with a homeless woman emerging as the primary suspect. Matt Valentine, the owner of Sweet Valentine Bakery, arrived at his shop around 5:45 AM only to find the woman half-naked outside, wearing merchandise from his bakery.
Surveillance footage examined by Fox LA showed that earlier that morning, the woman had broken into the bakery, creating chaos by knocking items off the shelves and leaving the space in disarray.
Valentine later shared footage on social media that documented the aftermath of the destruction, revealing a scene littered with packaging, food, and tissues scattered across the floor, although glass display cases and the beverage cooler remained unscathed. Upon realizing the extent of the damage, Valentine promptly contacted the police, who arrived quickly to arrest the woman outside the bakery. Mobile footage captured the moment she was taken into custody, showing her clad in only a sweatshirt.
Reflecting on this troubling experience, Valentine noted that this incident marked the second time in ten months that his bakery had suffered such a blow. “Seeing all of this is truly heartbreaking,” he expressed. “This bakery is my pride and joy, the culmination of a lifelong dream. Every time we try to move forward, we seem to be met with these kinds of setbacks.” In his social media post, he reassured followers, stating, “Fortunately, the damage was mainly to the decor and ingredients; our baking equipment is intact and fully operational.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that one person had been arrested in connection with the incident. Despite the damage, the bakery temporarily closed its doors on the morning of October 4 but has since reopened for business.
