On the evening of October 26, the Northeast China General Chamber of Commerce in Australia held a successful economic and trade seminar in Sydney with the visiting delegation from the Liaoning Provincial Political Consultative Conference.
Attending the seminar were prominent figures such as Jiang Jun, Vice Chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Political Consultative Conference; Wang Dianwu, Director of the Agricultural and Rural Committee; Qin Zhe, Director of the Proposal Committee; Liu Huaiye, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Zhao Hongbin, Deputy Director of the Liaoning Provincial Government Foreign Affairs Office; as well as Australian representatives including Jiang Jianxin, President of the Northeast China General Chamber of Commerce, Jiang Zhaoqing, Founding President of the Northeast Chinese Community Association, Zeng Yi, Executive Chairman of the Australia-China Economic and Cultural Exchange Promotion Association, Zhang Yaming, Honorary Chairman of the Northeast China General Chamber, and Yu Chunmei, Rotating President of the Chamber.
In his remarks, Jiang Jun expressed that the purpose of the delegation’s visit to Australia is to strengthen friendly exchanges between Liaoning and Australia, promote economic cooperation, and enhance dialogue with the Chinese diaspora in Australia. He highlighted Liaoning’s rich historical and cultural heritage as well as its innovative spirit, noting that the province has achieved significant accomplishments since the reform and opening up. For the first time, Liaoning’s GDP surpassed 3 trillion yuan in 2023, with economic growth reaching a decade high. In the first three quarters of 2024, Liaoning’s GDP showed a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, slightly higher than the national average by 0.1 percent, maintaining growth that has either matched or exceeded national rates for seven consecutive quarters. He expressed hope that the visit would further promote friendly exchanges and establish a broader platform for economic cooperation, thereby contributing to the development of bilateral relations and the friendship between the peoples of China and Australia.
Jiang Jianxin, speaking on behalf of the chamber, expressed his happiness at welcoming the delegation from his hometown of Liaoning as Australia-China relations gradually improve. He shared that the delegation plans to visit local companies like the Yuanda Group and engage in in-depth discussions with Australian commercial, agricultural, and educational institutions to explore collaborations in economic, market, and cultural fields. As a leader of the Northeast China Chamber in Australia, he stated his commitment to responding to his hometown’s expectations by strengthening economic and cultural ties between China and Australia, and sharing compelling stories about China and its people.
The attendees engaged in lively discussions on topics such as trade, education, climate, and technology, fostering a warm and positive atmosphere throughout the event.
