Seven horses in Zhejiang traveled to Jinshan Mountain at night. The Shanghai and Zhejiang police teamed up to help them return home safely.

In the early hours of October 26, a peculiar incident occurred in Shanghai’s Jinshan district when seven horses escaped from a camping site in Pinghu, Zhejiang, and decided to take a leisurely stroll through the streets. Fortunately, local police quickly sprang into action, collaborating with authorities from Zhejiang to ensure the wayward horses were safely returned.

At around 4:52 AM, officers on duty at the Xingta checkpoint noticed the seven horses entering from the Zhejiang side. The horses were wandering in the Xingta community without any owners present. Given the poor visibility at that hour, there was a real risk of traffic accidents or personal injuries, prompting the officers to request assistance from the Xingta police station.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Xingta station swiftly arrived on the scene and tracked the horses to the intersection of Xingxin Road and Jian’an Road. In an effort to avoid startling the animals, the police carefully directed them to an area away from traffic. Thankfully, with few vehicles on the road, the officers were able to alert passing motorists to exercise caution and concurrently communicated with the central command to contact the Zhejiang police for assistance in locating the horses’ owner.

An investigation revealed that the horses had escaped from the Pinghu International Import Commodity City, located about 500 meters from the checkpoint, due to the owner’s lapse in supervision. Fortunately, police acted promptly, and the horses are now safely back home under the watchful care of their owner.

Authorities remind everyone to properly supervise large animals, such as horses and cattle, to prevent them from wandering onto roadways, which can lead to traffic accidents. If you encounter large animals on the road, remain calm, avoid honking to prevent startling them, and promptly call the police for assistance.
