During a recent interview at the 30th China Yiwu International Commodity Fair, which takes place from October 21 to 24 in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, we explored a plethora of innovative products crafted using advanced techniques like “algorithms” for silk scarves and 3D printing for sweatshirts. Featuring nearly a hundred premium “Made in Zhejiang” products from 12 local enterprises, the “Trademark Zhejiang Manufacturing” themed exhibition left a significant impression on attendees.
The exhibition highlighted “Trademark” products and their corresponding companies through a variety of engaging formats, including live interviews from a transparent broadcasting studio, informative graphics, product showcases, video presentations, and interactive AIGC elements. This multifaceted approach aimed to demonstrate the essence of “world-class quality, made in Zhejiang.”
A representative from the fair noted the importance of small goods in a vast market, explaining that since the “Zhejiang Manufacturing” themed pavilion debuted at the Yiwu International Commodity Fair in October 2016, the brand-building efforts have consistently showcased their achievements for eight years in a row. This platform helps companies tap into both domestic and international markets, creating fresh opportunities for foreign trade.
Some participating companies have already made remarkable strides in foreign trade. For instance, Wanxiang Group has invested over $10 billion across 24 states in the U.S. and operates 26 factories, with their components used in one out of every two vehicles produced in North America. Meanwhile, “Greener” has emerged as one of China’s earliest global brands, now exporting to over 80 countries after more than 20 years of focused international and domestic market development. Shouxiangu places a strong emphasis on international collaborations, having signed a framework agreement for international Ganoderma research with several international associations. Lastly, Hangyang Group is set to provide a 50,000-level air separation device to customers in Mexico, which will be the largest of its kind exported from China to the Mexican market upon completion.
In addition to experiencing “Quality Zhejiang Goods,” visitors also had the chance to engage with intelligent applications enhancing traditional products through both on-site experiences and online tours. The exhibition allowed buyers to gain hands-on insights into the latest developments and cutting-edge applications of AI products from Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi large model. This AI technology enables real-time translation in multiple languages, facilitating communication between businesses and global foreign trade clients, while also assisting in product design and marketing.
At the event, advanced printing technology was showcased, highlighting Yangtze’s 3D printing series produced by the Kanli printer. The intricate process seamlessly integrates design and advanced manufacturing, transforming traditional practices into innovative production capabilities—effectively redefining classic Zhejiang goods.
Additionally, the themed exhibition featured a “Trademark Live Studio,” where business leaders discussed the growth and unique characteristics of “Trademark Zhejiang Manufacturing” companies.
Since launching the “Zhejiang Manufacturing” regional public brand initiatives in 2014, Zhejiang has established a brand strategy focusing on “advanced standards and international certification.” The goal is to create an image of high-quality and reputable “Zhejiang Manufacturing” products by developing a new standard system that is both domestically first-rate and internationally advanced.
By the end of September 2024, Zhejiang has developed and released 3,752 group standards and nurtured 4,855 certified “Zhejiang Manufacturing” enterprises. The combined effects of upgrading “Trademark” standards, enhancing quality, and improving brand efficiency are proving to be a vital engine driving high-quality economic growth in Zhejiang.
