**Title: Accelerating the Transformation of Scientific Achievements in Hefei’s Binhu Science City**

*Interviewer*: As we witness the vibrant development of Hefei’s Binhu Science City, can you share what it means for science and technology to take the lead in driving modernization in China?

*Chen Lin*: It is essential to recognize that advancing Chinese-style modernization requires science and technology to be at the forefront. Scientific innovation is the only path forward. High-tech advancements cannot be bought or begged for; we must expedite our journey towards achieving self-reliance and strength in technology. Researchers are key players in this modernization, and we encourage them to embrace the spirit of striving to innovate and create.

*Interviewer*: Following President Xi Jinping’s recent visit, what have been the immediate reactions from local authorities and researchers?

*Chen Lin*: President Xi’s emphasis on innovation has certainly inspired us. As a member of the Binhu Science City Party Committee and deputy director of the management committee, I feel a strong sense of responsibility. We are dedicated to providing an environment that fosters creativity and accelerates the transformation of scientific results.

*Interviewer*: Can you describe a typical day for you in this role?

*Chen Lin*: Just the other day, I was on the phone with Professor Ding Yanwei, who is leading a recently established high-tech company, Anhui Zhongke Thermal Instrument Co., Ltd. I am always ready to assist research professionals in overcoming challenges they face in their businesses.

*Interviewer*: How does your team assist nascent tech companies like his?

*Chen Lin*: We consistently monitor the operational status of innovation-driven enterprises and stay attuned to their needs. Our objective is to provide detailed support whenever necessary. Last year, Professor Ding’s project was a result of technology empowered by the University of Science and Technology of China, but he faced challenges when transitioning from the lab to launching a business.

*Interviewer*: It sounds like he was in a difficult position at first. How did your organization step in?

*Chen Lin*: When he was feeling lost in the process, we connected him with Sheng Zijie, a senior project manager at Anhui Science and Technology Market. Our team frequently engages with the research outcomes from universities, proactively collaborating with researchers to resolve issues related to technology transfer.

*Interviewer*: What specific support did Professor Ding receive?

*Chen Lin*: We provided comprehensive support tailored to their needs. For instance, we arranged introductions to local venture capital funds for startup capital, helped them find office spaces, and connected them with relevant industry parks for additional resources and incentives. As a result, Anhui Zhongke Thermal Instrument Co., Ltd. officially established operations in Hefei’s Luyang Big Data Industrial Park this past June. Professor Ding was pleasantly surprised by the rapid progress.

*Interviewer*: What broader initiatives is Binhu Science City undertaking to promote technology transfer?

*Chen Lin*: Our main focus is on investing in and operating key projects such as the Hefei Future Science City and the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center Technology Achievement Transformation Demonstration Zone. Since we began our operations, we’ve successfully identified 18,000 domestic and international research outputs, facilitated the transformation of over 3,000 tech achievements, established 160 companies, and generated a remarkable transaction value exceeding 117.3 billion yuan.

*Interviewer*: With the establishment of satellite markets like the one in Wuhu, how do you see the future of technology transfer in Anhui?

*Chen Lin*: The Anhui Science and Technology Market is evolving rapidly. With 15 sub-markets now in place, we create a seamless network that empowers enterprises by pooling resources together efficiently.

*Interviewer*: Looking ahead, what are your ambitions for the Binhu Science City?

*Chen Lin*: We aim to push for institutional and mechanism reforms to implement a “small committee + large company” operational model. We are committed to strengthening the Anhui Science and Technology Market, accelerating technology transfers, and fostering new forms of productive forces. Our vision is to turn Hefei’s Luyang Park into a cutting-edge application scene for urban technological achievements.

*Interviewer*: It sounds like a dynamic future awaits. Thank you for sharing these insights about the exciting developments in Hefei!
