On October 18, local time, the “China-Cambodia In Focus” – Beautiful China, Beautiful Cambodia Photo Exhibition officially opened in Phnom Penh. The event is guided by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism. It is organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration’s Central and Eastern European and South Asian Communication Center, in collaboration with the Cambodia-China Friendship Association.
During the opening ceremony, distinguished guests included Eisenhower, the Chairman of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association, Dith Chantha, the Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, and Zhang Peng, the Director of the News and Public Diplomacy Office of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia. Jiang Yonggang, Director of the Central and Eastern European and South Asian Communication Center and President of the People’s Daily, attended the event virtually.
In his video address, Jiang Yonggang highlighted the efforts of the People’s Daily in promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation with Cambodia over the years, which includes organizing events like this photo exhibition. He reiterated the commitment to further enhancing cultural exchanges across various fields and building bridges for the people of both nations, ultimately contributing to the China-Cambodia community of shared destiny.
Dith Chantha expressed in her speech that Cambodia and China are steadfast friends, with a long-standing history of friendly exchanges and cultural ties. This year marks the Year of Cultural Exchange, and the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism plans to host a series of events, including a Cambodia-China Food Expo and a Cambodia-China Tourism Expo. She hopes these initiatives will attract more Chinese tourists to Cambodia, fostering the growth of the tourism industry and deepening cultural exchange.
Eisenhower, while touring the exhibition, reflected on the deep friendship that has developed over thousands of years between the peoples of China and Cambodia. He emphasized the necessity of strengthening cooperation in culture, tourism, and trade. He encouraged Chinese investors and tourists to view Cambodia as a second home and called for increased training in human resources for technological innovation, alongside stronger collaboration with local NGOs to create more job opportunities for the local community.
The “China-Cambodia In Focus” – Beautiful China, Beautiful Cambodia Photo Exhibition in Phnom Penh features 66 outstanding photographs that showcase the natural beauty, cultural richness, and developmental progress of both countries. The exhibition captures significant moments and highlights in the friendship between the Chinese and Cambodian peoples. The inaugural exhibition took place from September 8 to 14 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
