On October 17th, in an exciting development for both the local economy and the semiconductor industry, a shipment of photomasks weighing 36 tons arrived at Jinjiang Port in Pingtan, marking the first import of semiconductor manufacturing equipment through Pingtan Port. This shipment was facilitated under the supervision of the Pingtan border inspection station.
Photomasks are crucial components in processes such as semiconductor manufacturing and flat panel display production. Their storage equipment is essential for protecting them from environmental contaminants like dust and chemicals, as well as preventing physical damage. Transporting this specialized equipment comes with strict conditions, requiring the use of specific air-suspension vehicles for loading and transport. After thorough evaluations and discussions among factories, manufacturers, and logistics companies, the shipment was brought in via the “Taipei Express,” employing a full-route ultra-precise air cushion transportation method during unloading.
This particular batch of equipment was urgently imported by a circuit integrated company based in Wuhan to ensure production continuity. Due to the large size of the cargo, air transport was not feasible as it consists of ultra-precision core semiconductor equipment.
To ensure a smooth entry for this shipment, the Pingtan border inspection station proactively coordinated with the agency managing the import. They accurately aligned with unloading requirements and continuously monitored vessel information, cargo status, and dock operations. By prioritizing expedited border inspection processes and implementing services such as “always on duty, immediate processing,” they assigned personnel for on-site supervision to minimize wait times and enable swift production startup, ultimately aiding the further development of the high-tech industry.
