New digital energy solid-state battery (Zhangzhou) Industrial Park starts construction in Zhangzhou High-tech Zone, Fujian

On the morning of October 9, 2023, a significant ceremony took place to celebrate the kickoff and completion of several projects in the Zhangzhou High-tech Zone, including the groundbreaking of the New Energy Solid-State Battery (Zhangzhou) Industrial Park.

Situated in the Zhangzhou High-tech Zone of Fujian Province, this industrial park marks the first initiative by Xiamen New Energy that features fully independent intellectual property rights for its gel solid-state batteries. According to Li Bohu, General Manager of Xiamen New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd., gel solid-state batteries represent the fourth generation of electrochemical system batteries. These batteries come with several advantages, including enhanced safety, high power output, increased energy density, a wide operational temperature range, and remarkable longevity. Their typical products have successfully passed national standard tests and have demonstrated robust performance in high-end applications, meeting all criteria essential for their industrialization and further development in terms of technology, safety, and economic viability.

The project is entirely financed by Xiamen New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd., which is investing around 1.1 billion yuan. These funds will primarily be directed toward the industrialization of high-performance gel solid-state lithium batteries. Once fully operational, the facility is anticipated to produce 2.5 GWh of gel solid-state lithium batteries each year, marking a significant advancement in the evolution of traditional liquid lithium batteries.

Li Bohu highlighted that the construction of the New Energy Solid-State Battery Industrial Park aims to foster innovative productive forces in the new energy sector, particularly through technological advancements and commercialization in solid-state battery technology. This initiative is expected to bolster the rapid growth and development of leading industries in intelligent manufacturing within the Zhangzhou High-tech Zone. He also mentioned that the industrial park will implement an integrated green energy power system that encompasses all aspects of energy production and management—source, grid, load, and storage—focusing on energy conservation and emission reduction. The goal is to establish a modern factory that is not only green and digital but also highly intelligent and informational.
